Can I call 0845 numbers for free from my mobile?

I have a contract on my mobile and I know I can call 0300 numbers for free but can I do the same with 0845 numbers as these are considered lo-call numbers?

I am confused by so many different sources out there that seem to give different answers, anyone able to point me to 1 site that knows its stuff ?

Thanks

When 0845 numbers where introduced the cost of calling them was the same as a local rate call. Therefore if you lived in London and called Manchester you would only pay a local rate. This is not the case anymore as different phone operators (BT, Virgin Media, 02, Vodaphone etc) charge a variety of prices.

From a standard BT land line, calling an 0845 number will cost 3.36p (Daytime), 0.85p (Evening) and 0.85p (Weekend). Other phone operators will vary.

0300 numbers Cost the same to call as standard landlines, even from mobiles and are inclusive in land line and mobile packages/tariffs.

Have a look at the source as all of the answers are on there.

You can't call an 0845 number free from any phone, whether mobile or landline. You should visit this website http://www.saynoto0870.com as this gives you alternative numbers for all numbers with an 08 prefix, as none of these are free from a mobile. You type in the 08 number or company name and it gives you a regular landline alternative, such as an 01, 02 or 03 number. Hope this helps.
No, it charges you.
