Why have most of the teams in Europe changed their kit or Numbers for the shirts for the champions league?

For example, Barcelona last night Giovanni was number 17 which is usually Toure, and the back of the shirt is different to the normal one

Van Nistelrooy was #17 instead of #9 like he is in the league

Man utd wore shirts with horrible style numbers printed on the back...

?????Why have most of the teams in Europe changed their kit or Numbers for the shirts for the champions league?
OBVIOUSLY MERCHANDISE SALES.Why have most of the teams in Europe changed their kit or Numbers for the shirts for the champions league?
Jerseys means sales the more jerseys they have the more money they can make on sales for the jerseys.
It's all about the $$$$$$$$$---nothing else.
i dont think ther's any real answer to that, maybe the players choose to play in diffrent numbers when playin in Europe.

Thats is completelly irelevant though as the Champions League trophy will be returning where it truly belongs.

Back to Merseyside Anfield. Home Of Liverpool FC!!!!
i get that it to sell jerseys with the style change, but the change of numbers is weird. man u were wearing their euro away kit
Souvenir sales increase with a new shirt to sell.
