Can you suggest digital camera to take pictures of inventory & serial numbers of that inventory?

Need a digital camera that will allow me to take pictures of items and the small serial numbers on those items? I am not sure which camera if any, will allow me to focus on suce a small item as a serial number.Can you suggest digital camera to take pictures of inventory %26amp; serial numbers of that inventory?
Even though I currently own this ultracompact digital camera, I would still like to highly recommend the purchase of a Nikon Coolpix L10 for the following reasons:

1. Besides taking well-exposed hi-quality 5 megapixel pictures, it uses a standard set of rechargeable double AA batteries which last a very long time;

2. Has a 3x optical zoom;

3. Has a macro feature which allows closeups within 6 inches;

4. The flash setting for ';red-eye'; correction is on the navigator wheel and not within a submenu;

5. It's very small and light;

6. Uses inexpensive SD memory cards;

7. The digital video feature takes wonderful ';sound'; videos which are noise free. It records the piano very well with it's built-in microphone;

8. It comes with a USB 2.0 transfer cable which you connect to your USB computer port;

9. Has tripod mount on bottom of camera;

10. And the price is a mere $99 [sold at Samy's Camera - www.samys.com, and Staples.com.]

Good luck!Can you suggest digital camera to take pictures of inventory %26amp; serial numbers of that inventory?
I won't recommend any particular brand, but you want to find one with a macro feature - this is what allows you to take photos of a subject very close-up. My camera allows shots from just a few inches away.

What I would suggest is that you go to somewhere that sells digital cameras that has a display where you can try them out (WalMart, Best Buy, etc.). Try focusing on something right on the display (price/inventory tag) and see how close the camera will allow you to focus. Also check the megapixel size to know what resolution (';clearness'; in separating small details) the camera provides and the memory capability. beyond these features, price might be your determining factor in which to get.
Nikon's usually have a very good macro mode. I've owned three differnt ones and have been able to shoot as close as 2'; which will pick up very small detail.

I've used the 990, 950 and the 5300, but I think most of their point %26amp; shoot models have excellent macro capability.
