RND is just the function to produce a random number with decimals, so I would use Rnd(1*50)+1 to get a number with decimals between 1 and 50.

    The details are available in this long description. The first three digits reflect the location of the residence given on the application for an SSN. They used to depend only on the SSA office that issued the number. The SSA regularly publishes tables showing the latest numbers being issued for each area.





    There is a persistent rumor that the SSA encodes ethnicity in the middle two digits. Most people have an even number as their fifth digit, independent of ethnicity. This is because these numbers are handed out in a strange sequence, and most regions of the country haven't reached the odd numbers yet.








    A Social Security Number (SSN) consists of nine digits, commonly written as three fields separated by hyphens: AAA-GG-SSSS. The first three-digit field is called the ';area number';. The central, two-digit field is called the ';group number';. The final, four-digit field is called the ';serial number';.





    The process of assigning numbers has been changed at least twice. Until 1965, only half the group numbers were used. Before 1972, numbers were assigned by field offices; since 1972, they have all been assigned by the central office. The order in which numbers were assigned was changed in the 1972 transition. There may have been other changes, but it's difficult to get information on how things used to be done.


    Area Numbers





    The area numbers are assigned to geographical locations. They were originally assigned the same way that zip codes were later assigned (in particular, area numbers increase from east to west across the continental US as do the ZIP codes). Most area numbers were assigned according to state (or territorial) boundaries, although the series 700-729 was assigned to railroad workers regardless of location (this series of area numbers was discontinued in 1964 and is no longer used for new SSNs). Area numbers assigned prior to 1972 are an indication of the SSA office which originally issued the SSN. Since 1972 the area number in SSNs corresponds to the residence address given by the applicant on the application for the SSN.





    In many regions the original range of area number assignments was eventually exhausted as population grew. The original area number assignments have been augmented as required. All of the original assignments were less than 585 (except for the 700-729 railroad worker series mentioned above). Area numbers of ';000'; have never been issued.





    The following table is now out of date. The SSA currently maintains an up-to-date version. I'm leaving the old one here in case the SSA's version goes away. As of 2001/5/15, the SSA lists group numbers as high as 768 as having been issued.

    Group Numbers





    The group number is not related to geography but rather to the order in which SSNs are issued for a particular area. Before 1965, only half the group numbers were used: odd numbers were used below 10 and even numbers were used above 9. In 1965 the system was changed so assignments continued with the low even numbers and the high odd numbers. So, group numbers for each area number are assigned in the following order:





    1. Odd numbers, 01 to 09


    2. Even numbers, 10 to 98


    3. Even numbers, 02 to 08


    4. Odd numbers, 11 to 99





    Group codes of ';00'; aren't assigned





    In each region, all possible area numbers are assigned with each group number before using the next group number. This means the group numbers can be used to find a chronological ordering of SSNs within a region. When new group numbers are assigned to a state, the old numbers are usually used up first.





    SSA publishes a list every month of the highest group assigned for each SSN Area. For example, if the highest group assigned for area 999 is 72, then we know that the number 999-04-1234 is an invalid number because even Groups under 9 have not yet been assigned.


    Serial Numbers





    Serial numbers are assigned in chronological order within each area and group number as the applications are processed. Serial number ';0000'; is never used. Before 1965, when number assignment was transferred from field offices to the central office, serial numbers may have been assigned in a strange order. (Some sources claim that 2000 and 7000 series numbers were assigned out of order. That no longer seems to be the case.) Currently, the serial numbers are assigned in strictly increasing order with each area and group combination.


    Invalid SSNs





    Any SSN conforming to one of the following criteria is an invalid number:





    1. Any field all zeroes (no field of zeroes is ever assigned).


    2. First three digits above 770





    A pamphlet entitled ';The Social Security Number'; (Pub. No. 05-10633) provides an explanation of the SSN's structure and the method of assigning and validating Social Security numbers.

    I don't think this is fabrication. They just passed a new way for banks to value assets.





    Also, they are being careful and not going for risky investments.





    Take into account that some of these banks are quite large and diversified in their own right. Some deal internationally. Some have TARP money.

    it all depends on the value of the bank's loans. it is not an easy question to answer. if there is a ready liquid market for these loans then we know the market value and the bank has to ';mark to market'; and change the value of the loans and if that incurs a loss it has to show that loss in its income statement. when the market is usurped by government plans to purchase the loans at a fixed price then that fixed price goes into the financial statements and changes both the balance sheet and the income statement.
    Because we're talking about two different kinds of financial statements here. They were bankrupt on their BALANCE SHEETs because they had to mark-to-market, and since there was no market for some of their assets, they were valued zero.





    But what was reported today by Wells comes from their INCOME STATEMENT, and they had a profit because they had more income than expenses.
    Banks are making money the traditional way....by LENDING. I think that the profit that they report for the first quarter is legit.....while the losses that they have on their books is also legit. Rather than focusing on how they are cheating investors and the taxpayer's out of money....remember it was the american taxpayer that signed their name to mortages that they couldn't afford......so it is your fellow americans that have CHEATED you and i out of money.......no one held a gun to these people's heads or forced them to not read the fine print. they put us in debt, the banks just capitalized on the product....AND NO ONE COMPLAINED......when times were good. Banks, believe it or not, are the life-line to our economy. Without them, there would be no such thing as: house loans, car loans, student loans, retailer loans...which means no future product, as well as centers for you and i to collect interest on sustain life, and lastly for other countries to have faith in where they park their money in our system....a collapse of our banking system is sooooo much dire than a crash of google or home depot.....so as you think you are being CHEATED by the financial institutions in our country....it is EVERYONE'S GREED....and i mean EVERYONE'S....that accounted for the state that we are in. The banks will lead us out of this......or.......we will be in this state for the next ten-fifteen years.     Couple of options, you can ask the network to block all witheld numbers if that is how they are calling you on or insist that they block this particular number, if you get no joy the speak to a manager about it. Don't let them fob you off! They can do it but often won't because its too much hassle for them which is why they'd prefer to change the number. It must be easier to do that. Why not have your number changed but ask for a load of free texts/minutes with it to cover you letting everyone else know that you've changed the number.


    Its also worth checking your phones settings like call settings as there may be an option to 'only accept calls from contacts' then just delete his number (worth keeping a note of it anyway just in case)

    I won't recommend any particular brand, but you want to find one with a macro feature - this is what allows you to take photos of a subject very close-up. My camera allows shots from just a few inches away.





    What I would suggest is that you go to somewhere that sells digital cameras that has a display where you can try them out (WalMart, Best Buy, etc.). Try focusing on something right on the display (price/inventory tag) and see how close the camera will allow you to focus. Also check the megapixel size to know what resolution (';clearness'; in separating small details) the camera provides and the memory capability. beyond these features, price might be your determining factor in which to get.
    Nikon's usually have a very good macro mode. I've owned three differnt ones and have been able to shoot as close as 2'; which will pick up very small detail.





    I've used the 990, 950 and the 5300, but I think most of their point %26amp; shoot models have excellent macro capability.

    From a standard BT land line, calling an 0845 number will cost 3.36p (Daytime), 0.85p (Evening) and 0.85p (Weekend). Other phone operators will vary.

    When you start having the unemployment raise that means that all business are downsizing which means less hours to be worked and there for less monies to be made this is a very scary situation to be in.

    The SSN is frequently used by those involved in identity theft, since it is interconnected with so many other forms of identification, and because people asking for it treat it as an authenticator 鈥?it is generally required by financial institutions to set up bank accounts, credit cards, and obtain loans, partially because it is assumed that no one except the person to whom it was issued will know it.





    Exacerbating the problem of using the social security number as an identifier is the fact that the social security card contains no biometric identifiers of any sort, making it essentially impossible to tell whether a person using a certain SSN is truly the person to whom it was issued without relying on some other means of documentation (which may itself have been falsely procured through use of the fraudulent SSN). Congress has proposed federal laws that will restrict the use of SSNs for identification and ban their use for a number of commercial purposes, e.g. rental applications[1].





    The IRS offers alternatives to SSNs in many places where providing untrusted parties with identification numbers is essential. Tax preparers can acquire a Preparer Tax Identification Number, or PTIN to include on their client's tax returns (as part of signature requirements). Day care services have tax benefits, and even a sole proprietor should give parents an EIN (Employer id number) to use on their tax return.





    The Social Security Administration has suggested that, if asked to provide his or her Social Security number, a citizen should ask which law requires its use.

    Calculators sometimes have a ';change sign'; button. It might be labeled something like +/- What you do is input 7.75 then hit the subtract button, input 1.69 and hit the change sign button. You should see the 1.69 change to -1.69 on your screen, then you just hit the equal sign to complete the operation like normal. Hope this helps.

    how could I extract a select section of the number? For example, 351 or 102?





    In strings, I understand that you can use the simple command ';substring';, so i was just wondering if there's something similar to that with numbers
